Admittedly, Jieun didn’t like being back in the JYP building.

She’d been so excited when her manager announced that she was to do a collab with Chaeryeong. Her first few practices had been on her own as she learned the choreo, but now that she was familiar with it, practices had been shifted to be joint so they could work on specific spacing together.

Although she loved being able to spend time with her friend again, she wasn’t exactly thrilled about having to go back to her old company. The very walls of the practice room brought her back to her trainee days, a time riddled with constant stress and fears about her future. It was a constant reminder of how things used to be, the cycle of doubt in her own choices. While years later, she could look back and be proud of how far she’d come since then, her skin still crawled with unease just from being inside.

“Jieunie, the instructor said we can take a break for a bit!” Chaeryeong said excitedly as she walked back into the room. Jieun, who had been laying on the ground, grinned as she rolled over and pushed herself closer to the center of the room. Chaeryeong took a seat beside her, handing the girl a water bottle.

“Thank god, I couldn’t dance another step even if I tried,” she joked, gratefully taking it and unscrewing the cap.

“I think she was extra mean today because you raised her expectations. I mean, you are ATEEZ’s main dancer,” Chaeryeong teased. “Really, I want to know though. What is it like having to live with 8 men?”

Jieun giggled at the emphasis on men, the word laced with the slightest hint of disgust. “Honestly, it’s not as bad as you’d think. It’s like when I was living at home with Jihoon-oppa, except my members can actually cook.”

“Sounds nice,” Chaeryeong said, a slight wistful tone in her voice. “Still, it would’ve been fun if we could’ve debuted together.”

“Maybe in another universe I’m a member of Itzy.” Jieun smiled softly. “But I’m happy as I am now. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Chaeryeong nodded before slumping down to the ground and dramatically laying out her arms. “Ah, the cold floor is so nice. I don’t want to dance anymore.” She raised her head, looking over. “You said your manager’s going to bring food, right?”

Jieun grinned, nodding. “She said she’d be back a bit before we’re supposed to finish.” She glanced at the clock, letting out a quiet sigh. “So…in an hour.”

Chaeryeong let out a dramatic groan as she rolled over, now faced down on the ground. “I want chicken.”

“Me too.” With a heave, Jieun pulled herself to her feet, shaking out the pins and needles in her legs. “I’ll be back, I’m just going to the bathroom.”

“You still remember where it is?” Chaeryeong asked from where she laid.

“Unfortunately, yes.”

Jieun made her way out of the practice room, closing the door behind her as she stepped out into the hallway. The light above her flickered, a slight buzzing noise filling the air. Yup. That checked out.

The hallways were eerily quiet as she walked through the building, save for the muffled music leaking out of a couple practice rooms that she passed. As she rounded a corner, Jieun found her path suddenly blocked by another figure, causing her to flinch.

“Oh, I’m so sorry-” She looked up, eyes widening as she made eye contact with the person in front of her. “Jisung?”

The boy took a step back out of surprise, eyebrows raised when he caught sight of her. “Jieun? What are you doing here?” Panic immediately took over his expression as he began to backtrack. “I mean- not that you’re not welcome here. You were a trainee before me after all, and it’s not like you’re banned or anything-” Noticing the smile on her face, Jisung immediately shut his mouth, a faint blush spreading across his cheeks.

“It’s ok,” she said with a small nod. “I was just practicing with Chaeryeong for our collab stage.”

“Oh! Nice, that’s cool. I was working on some music with Channie-hyung and Changbin-hyung.”

The two stood in place for a couple seconds, the silence between them growing more uncomfortable as time went on. Jisung glanced off into the distance while Jieun stared at the ground, shifting her feet.

“I was just wondering-”

“Sorry, I’m just-”

They both cut off, laughing awkwardly.

“Sorry, you go first,” Jieun said.

“No, it’s ok. You first.” He shook his head. “What were you wondering?”

Jieun swallowed, raising her head slightly though still not meeting his gaze. “You help produce all of Stray Kids’ music, right?”

Although slightly taken aback by the question, Jisung nodded. “Yeah, some of the members help too but it’s mostly me, Channie-hyung and Changbin-hyung. We were a trio called 3racha before we debuted.”

“I like the pun,” she said, earning a smile from the boy.

“You do some songwriting for ATEEZ too, don’t you?”

She nodded. “A bit. I usually give feedback for my own parts, but our producers make the final decisions. Hongjoong-oppa and Mingi-oppa are a lot more involved than I am.”

“Didn’t you write and produce Eternal Sunshine though?” Upon seeing her shocked expression, Jisung let out a single nervous laugh. “It’s a really good song. I think it should’ve won the title track vote, personally.”

Jieun stared at him with wide eyes, mouth hanging open. She broke out of her trance after a couple seconds, blinking as she shook her head.

“Ah, thank you.” She smiled shyly. “I don’t have my own studio space, so it was just something I made on my laptop a long time ago. It would’ve never actually seen the light of day if Yeosang-oppa didn’t convince me to show it to our producers.”

“I just recently got my own studio space!” Jisung said enthusiastically. “I hope you can get your own studio soon. It really does make a difference at times.”

Jieun nodded wistfully. “Sounds nice.”

The boy frowned, his mouth straightening into a tight line as though he was trying to think of what to say next.

“If you wanted…I could show you sometime?”

Jieun’s eyes widened as she stared at him with a flustered expression. He opened his mouth, about to backtrack, though she spoke up before he had a chance.

“Sure, if it’s ok.” The corners of her lips tilted upward as she looked up at the boy, meeting his gaze.

“Oh, great, uh- I can give you my number-” he swallowed, letting out a small chuckle. “You know, so we can arrange the… tour.”

Jieun reached into her pocket to grab her phone, quickly noticing its absence.

“Shoot, I think I left my phone back in the practice room.”

“That’s ok!” Jisung pulled out his own phone. He looked down at it for a couple seconds before glancing toward the girl and holding it out to her.

Hesitantly, she took the phone from his hand, inputting her phone number. Jisung gave a short nod as she handed his phone back, quickly saving the contact before putting it back in his pocket.

“Sorry, I think I should go now,” Jieun said, smiling sheepishly. “I was on my way to the bathroom and Chaeryeong’s probably wondering where I am.”

“Oh! Sorry, yeah.” The boy immediately stepped to the side, allowing her to pass. “It was nice seeing you again, Jieun. I’ll message you later so you know it’s me.”

“It was nice seeing you too!” Jieun gave a short bow before moving past him to continue on her way.

Though as Jieun walked down the hallway, she felt a pair of eyes on her back. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Jisung standing in the same place he’d been, though only for a second, as the boy immediately turned and started walking away when she looked back. She smiled, heat rising to her cheeks as she continued on her way.

“What took you so long?” Chaeryeong asked the moment she walked into the practice room.

“Sorry, turns out I don’t remember this place as well as I thought I did.” Jieun laughed awkwardly. “Hey, have you seen my phone?”

Chaeryeong nodded as she walked over to the desk where Jieun’s phone had been sitting since the start of practice. As she grabbed it, the screen suddenly lit up with a new notification that Chaeryeong immediately noticed. A smirk spread across the girl’s face as she handed extended her arm out to Jieun.

“Why’s Jisung-oppa texting you?” she asked innocently, blinking over at the girl. Jieun took the phone out of her hand, turning away as blood rushed to her face.

“I saw him in the hallway,” she answered, looking down at the notification.

Unknown Number: Hi! Unknown Number: It’s me Unknown Number: Jisung Unknown Number: 🙂

“Oh my god. Song Jieun, are you blushing?”

“No!” Jieun turned around, walking over to where her bag laid and quickly stuffing her phone inside. “We should get back to practice now. Minju-unnie will be back soon with food.”

With a knowing look, Chaeryeong gave a single nod as she went to start the music. Jieun stared at herself in the mirror, fighting the smile that threatened to spread across her face as she reminded herself to respond to the message when practice was over.

a tale of two (concert) halves... (storytime!)

I've made it clear over the past few updates that my real life struggles have really backed us into a corner. If the first half of 2024 was on hard difficulty, the second half has so far been on brutal. Personal relationships are falling apart, our physical health has been going through hell, and our finances are struggling to keep up with ever increasing debts. As much as I am a man of faith, I do struggle with maintaining such devout trust on the daily, because I am afraid of the worst.

But even during these tough times, it's comforting to know I won't be left for dead, and I can still find enjoyment in them.

Not gonna lie, I thought I would never attend a concert this year. IVE was coming back after a little over a year, but I didn't have money for it (and is something I still struggle to move on from). ITZY was coming back less than eight months when I saw them, but no Lia, and the ticket selling was insanely early (fuck you Live Nation). The only other girl group I think came here was fromis_9, which I still would love to see, but that was for a festival, so the setlist was extremely limited—and it was during finals week, so that was not gonna happen. There's just been an overall downturn of concerts compared to last year, so whether or not this is a good thing, you decide. (Seriously, no aespa, no (G)I-DLE, no NMIXX, etc.)

However—here comes Red Velvet, one of the holy trinity of 3rd gen girl groups (TwicePinkVelvet), celebrating their 10th anniversary with an Asia tour. By some miracle, I got a stimulus check two months ahead of my birthday, and yet it was still a hard decision, because I wasn't sure if other girl groups would also tour near the end of the year. Looking at what's to come for the last quarter of the year, I highly doubt it and 2025 is sure to be stacked, so it all paid off in retrospect.

It was a completely different experience than the first two outings. For one, it was fucking standing floor over seated, so I knew my body would be put through the torture rack. Second was the unpredictability of where I would end up—thankfully it wasn't first come first serve where I would be forced to camp early (which by the way, concert campers are disgusting and should be arrested). Still, my positioning would depend on my queuing number (which in itself was dependent on when you would buy your ticket, and obviously unless you got into the site as soon as it loaded up, the earlier), and while it wasn't completely shit—it still meant that a majority would get their preferred spot over mines.

Cut to the actual concert day and it was a tale of two halves. The first was the pre-concert, which wasn't all bad at the start—but then there was the queuing before entering the venue. I could have easily waited and taken my sweet time exploring and doing other shit, but I was pressured to queue early out of fear of not getting a good spot. I forgot that since it was queuing numbers, they would rearrange the line anyway, so I never really had a chance lmao. I really shot myself in the foot quite literally by adding an extra two hours standing around.

Everyone in VIP was given a bonus member card, and I didn't end up getting my bias. I tried bartering with other fans, but I absolutely failed. To add insult to injury, everyone else were able to trade and/or get theirs, so that fucking sucks.

It was also the first time I was forced to wear some kind of noise control for my ears. Didn't really have earplugs but Airpods were certainly a nice alternative. Fucking hell—this was the loudest of the three crowds I've ever been a part of, and it doesn't help that the audience would screech and shout out of tune. It was so goddamn annoying. Then you get to the ments/speeches, and they would just fucking bark and make monkey noises while the members were talking, and after performances. I counted a total of 12-14 times this happened throughout, and it never got any better. If the members weren't encouraging the audience, I'd probably have socked someone in the nose out of annoyance at some point.

As for the overall concert itself, I had a blast! I'm not that familiar with Red Velvet's colorful discography, but they performed most of their hits and title tracks (ripperoni Russian Roulette and Chill Kill). Not only that, but the set ran for almost 3 hours (2 hours 50 minutes as they did start like 10 minutes past schedule), and the energy persisted all throughout. Wendy was constantly flaunting her vocals, but Joy. Joy was absolutely fucking insane. Also, the fucking Zimzalabim encore is something everyone needs to experience once in their lifetime.

I wish I could say the pain was all worth it—but of course, life being life, it decides to fuck with me one more fucking time with the middle finger. After the show ended, we were all told to stay in our spots for the send-off event as everyone else were escorted out and the raffle winners from lower seating tiers were pulled in. We waited for 40 minutes, and then the members come out. It should be a cool moment! Except they were led by staff straight to the extended stage for a bit and then they'd get off, completely neglecting the sides, where me and a few others were. They would eventually go around the venue, but by the time we realized what has happening, it was too late—we never got to see them up close properly.

I'll be honest, while I don't feel as bothered thinking about it a few days on, when it happened, it almost ruined the entire experience for me. The organizers/staff had misdirected us and didn't organize properly, so some of us got a lesser experience than those who won the raffle, which is worse for us since we paid more. The send-off treatment here was way—way worse than in Bangkok and Jakarta, and it fucking pisses me off. We can't have shit in this country. I don't blame the girls for it; they were just following instructions and they had a flight to catch shortly after (not to mention they were tired as fuck). Still, the fact I paid so much for that underwhelming send-off experience just reinforces my opinion that hi-touches are simply better. At least everyone gets a fair shot, even if it was very brief. You can't win them all, I guess. I also do believe that it was bound to happen, the first two experiences were near-perfect and flawless in execution, so something had to give to bring me back down to earth.

Nevertheless, even if for just a few hours, it's nice to find some comfort and enjoyment despite the world around me crumbling down. To think that they're 10 years on and still as active as their younger contemporaries in K-pop is astounding. I can see why they're among the most beloved girl groups ever; there's only a handful with equal the talent and discography to match. This was also my first outing with a new camera, and when it was hitting, the shots were fucking hitting.

I really wish Bamboleo was part of the set tho.

happy 6th anniversary, my ITZY!

another special moment has come—another milestone that we get to celebrate together. it's been 6 years since your debut, and for me, it's been almost 5 years since i entered the fandom.

i feel like everything just happened at the right time, being a MIDZY in 2020. there was this instant connection as i watched your not shy m/v, and i knew from that moment, i had to stan!

each passing year just makes me more grateful to have the experience of discovering you all sooner and getting to grow up along, as you also progress at your own pace.

i appreciate and love everything you do as five, and of course, as individuals. i cannot imagine my life now without you all because believe me, you are one of the strengths i have all these years; an unexpected solace within my heart. you are one of the happiness that keeps me going, and i wouldn't trade this love and journey so beautiful and genuine with anything.

As someone whos only into leo i did Not know that boygroups were going in a recession?? Like it makes sense cause ive only been hearing about itzy, newjeans and aespa i guess lately but i did not know things were THAT dire for the boy group economy. This is honestly really funny to me, 2nd gen kpop hags get older and start to move on with their lives and all of their companies just keep panic making boy groups😂😂😂

literally its like all the women w jobs who used to just throw crazy amounts of money at 2nd and 3rd gen groups and helped get them off the ground all said 'we retired' and then w That Group and its fans being how they are the well has dried up for men i fear. every other rookie girl group blows up to mega fame but its nothing for the boys its crazy 😭😭😭😭 and whats even crazier is that these companies will still insist on making these boy groups hoping the misogyny has kicked into the market or sumn like if y'all don't send them lil boys to TRADE SCHOOL

Hello again! I have chin length curly blonde hair with green eyes and ivory skin tone; I’m extremely insecure about my face and body. I’m 5’5” with a mixed grunge aesthetic. I’m built strong and stocky with longer legs. I have scars on my shoulders and back that I’m not a fan of showing to people.

I am relatively an introvert and tend to keep to myself and the people I care for, I enjoy having my time alone but I enjoy having verbal and physical connectings with others. I am quite nice and enjoyable to be around but if you start off or get off on the wrong foot with me at any time it is very hard to change that. I do have a slight bit of anger issues and will lash out at those who tick me off. I protective over those I care for and will do anything to make sure they are happy, even if it means I’m not. I can also be pretty chaotic and have surges of energy; but those drop quickly

I enjoy music like grunge, rock, indie and alternative, but I will listen to most others if I’m introduced to it. I enjoy drawing both digitally and on paper along with story writing and making characters. I enjoy nature and bug anatomy(but I love staying inside all warm and comfortable on my couch). I love cooking and baking by myself and with other people and I enjoy just talking with others about what we like to each other

I dislike red meats, people who are full of themselves or wanting to be topic of conversation always, people who are loud and noise for no reason at all. I dislike being out in public for long periods of time and I dislike disloyalty in relationships.

If I were to think of my ideal partner, I want someone who is loyal to me, who will always be there for me when I need them. I want to be able to be both best friends with them and partners with them. I want someone who can keep up with me but also just cuddle with me and be there. I want someone who won’t right away trust me, but I want someone who once they will, they will be open with me so I can help them with what ever they need help with.

event plotcall & tracker

hiii everyone yes me again. this time, i’m (belatedly) making a plotcall for the new events! i wanted to wait until i had hana in to do one of these so i could just cover the whole gang in one post. as i often do, i will do a little rundown of what my muses will be up to and how they’ll be feeling about the events to give us a jumping off point, as well as a tracker for myself for the events. please like this post if you’d like to plot for an event!

JOOMI - ENKOR

joomi will be going to the festival, a little begrudgingly because he still ultimately has very little interest in kpop. he’s mainly going for the cover competition, where his new band, dead calm, will be making their hot debut. he’ll be around for a while though, kinda exploring everything while likely not participating in anything without someone forcing him into it JKSDKFJSDJKG but he’s a curious person and is interested in observing kpoppies like they are rats in his science experiment like people really trade cardboard with kpop people’s faces on it. fascinating.

NAYOUNG - ICEBREAKER

nayoung is still a pretty fresh (sr media) trainee, so this will be a good opportunity for her to get to know some others! she’s not the most social person, especially when she’s focused on preparing for a performance, but she’ll be polite. she’ll probably need to be approached though, except for her teammates, who she will happily help and likely boss around lmao. she doesn’t really have an opinion one way or another on the axis merger, at least not yet. if anything, she kind of thinks of it as an opportunity to see what the competition in the other companies looks like. she’s a very competitive person, and she may be a little Tense since so much rides on these performances and she is very serious about getting it right.

hana is a big fan of kpop, so she’ll definitely want to go to enkor, but ideally not alone. she might put an invite out to the seoul-based twitter circle, because she might be too shy to ask a friend irl to go with her. it would be great if someone else brings it up first. but i think once she gets to the festival she’ll loosen up a bit and have fun whether she’s by herself or not! she’ll really want to do everything that she can. her ult group is wonderland, but she’s a girl group stan in general. her current idol crush is seulki of prizm (wb itzy), though.
